This week’s class covered the most coveted jewel of the internet–pornography. The majority of the internet is porn, and aside from learning about how harmful porn can be since it perpetuates sexism and racism amongst other things, it can serve as a valuable tool to spicen up one’s sex life. Those who watch porn are more likely to have an active sexual lifestyle, and though porn can be wildly fantastical, there are certain things we can learn from porn and about the crowds it targets. Porn is usually the first introduction to sex that many youth encounter. From the pimply teenager clearing his search history to a well-known sex worker, porn is an aspect of many people’s lives, and it comes in a variety of categories. There are countless porn studios, and sometimes they specialize in forms of porn like lesbian or gay porn, “ebony” porn, and hentai.

Pornography has existed as long as the media has, from titty theaters to pay-per-view events, humanity has seriously proved its perversion. We also discussed how some people can become addicted to porn, so it is advisable to monitor the amount of porn a person intakes and what kind of porn is considered healthy and not. The class was opened to discussion about how porn can be harmful, as it often shows women being objectified, black women being treated unfairly and hardly searched for in various sites, and how kiddie porn is a horrible aspect of the industry that only serves to exploit children for selfish, perverse, corporate gain. One should recognize that certain types of porn like bloody porn, killer porn, and kiddie porn is harmful and should not be practiced. Instead, other types of form like gay, hentai, fetish, and even cartoon porn serve as healthier methods for viewing pornography. Surprisingly enough, two of the most commonly searched types of porn in the United States are step-mother porn, and sister porn.
